What is 3D Printed Tooling?
3D printed tooling, aiding time-effective mould production for airset castings.
Newby Foundries’ 3D printed tooling is produced using PLA, PETG and carbon fibre filled nylon. Our material choice ensures tooling is created with ideal properties for your project, with Newby Foundries also being able to provide multi-material and multi-colour printing where required.
Our Rapid Prototype Castings department is equipped with the latest machinery to drive the high standard of this service. We utilise a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon for FDM printing; machinery specifications are as follows:
- Bed size of 256 x 256 x 256mm
- Fine layer thickness between 50 - 300μm
3D printed tooling is not suitable for all casting projects. Applications for this service include low volume runs of basic, non-cored castings, functional prototypes, fixtures and lost wax tooling.
