What is Cold Box Core Blowing?
High quality core production achieved through cold box core blowing.
This widely established operation produces high tolerance sand cores to supplement Newby Foundries’ range of casting processes.
Newby Foundries’ cold box core blowing process allows for high quality casting and smooth surface finishes;. Including complex structures, large cores, thin wall sections and more.
Cold box core blowing is a fast-curing method, suitable for low to high volume product runs, aiding a time-efficient and high-quality process for all types of projects.
Newby Foundries’ industry-leading service is suitable for the casting of a number of metals across the UK and on a global scale.
Core Creation
During core creation, a CNC cut resin corebox is mounted inside the core blowing machine.
Resin coated sand is blown into the corebox with Amine gas – a cutting gas that accelerates the binding process between sand and resin at room temperature. Strategically placed vents in the corebox allows the sand to fill the entire cavity.
Once the resin is cured, forming a solid core, it is ejected from the corebox.
The cores are then removed from the machine along with the blow candles. Finally, they are dressed and coated ready for moulding.
