What is Resin Tooling?
Custom resin tooling for the high accuracy manufacture of prototype and production castings.
Newby Foundries’ resin tools are used in conjunction with the airset moulding and cold box core blowing processes to produce castings in various metal types and grades.
Our prototype and limited batch resin tools are produced using lower density resin board to save on material costs and cutting time. Production tooling can be produced in more durable resin grades to minimise tool wear.
Resin tooling offers clients cost-effective tooling that also reduces turnaround time while maintaining a high-quality product. It can also be used to produce significantly larger moulds than many other processes.

Resin Tooling Applications
Resin tooling is suitable for the manufacture of both Furan and Alphaset bonded airset moulds. This allows us to utilise resin tooling across all sand-casting sites to produce moulds for Iron Casting, Steel Casting, Aluminium Casting and Zinc Casting castings.
Where necessitated by your project, Newby Foundries can provide hybrid moulding – bringing together two or more different processes, utilising the best required properties of each to produce optimised castings for the desired specifications.
RapidCast Capabilities
The Rapid Prototype Castings division of Newby Foundries specialises in rapid prototyping and casting design development. Through our continuous investments in new technologies and equipment and the sustained growth of our departments, we’re able to streamline your project with our RapidCast service.
As a part of this, the Newby Foundries team welcome existing products as well as NPI (New Product Introduction), working from CAD data, drawings or reverse engineering to develop your designs for tooling and casting manufacture.
Utilising the facilities and processes of the Newby Group, our broad range of available processes and materials allows us to take a custom and impartial approach that pairs your project with the right bespoke process, based on a range of variables including cost, lead time, tolerance, surface finish and more.
Newby Foundries can undertake the complete manufacturing process in-house, from concept to production, including services such as heat treatment, machining, coating and delivery.
